PD Scoop – November Hot Spot

This month we are highlighting another avenue for students at East to personalize their education experience and take ownership in their learning. The HotSpot, is a teacher supported flexible workspace & resource for students and staff in helping learners achieve their personal best.  A learner, with permission from his/her teacher, can choose a space that extends beyond the traditional classroom based on the purpose for his/her learning.  Whether a student needs extra help from teacher, a quiet place to work, or needs space or additional resources for extension or enrichment opportunities, the learner can flex (schedule) themselves into one of the HotSpot’s 3 flexible learning spaces including… Personal Flex:  quiet, individualized learning spaces Group Flex:   collaborative, group project spaces Small Group Focused Flex:  coaching, re-teaching, & conferencing table The HotSpot provides learners immediate support under the guidance of Leslie Geissler.  This past... read more

6th Grade Party

Friday, October 27th from 3:30-5:30 is the annual 6th grade party to be held at Chaska Middle School East.  There will be 6th graders from Chaska Middle School West also joining us so your kids will enjoy seeing even more of their friends!  The school will be rocking with activities that include:  Carnival games, DJ & dance, dodgeball tournament, a movie room and swimming!  All games and activities are free.  Concessions will be available for purchase. PD Scoop – Assistant Principal Gilbert October – WIN Time One of our commitments as a district and at CMS East is to offer personalized learning opportunities for our students.  Now that we are a month into school, you may have heard your child talk about WIN time.  WIN is an acronym for What I Need.  Each week, CMS East dedicates three separate blocks of time (30-40 minutes each) to create time for students to meet with a teacher for support, explore a new type of learning, or create time for themselves to complete their school work.  Teachers offer four types of sessions for students: Academic Prevention – “Just in time” help for students to focus on current learning targets in class.  Students can choose this option if they are feeling behind or need more support.
